The Bjelke-Petersen School of Physical Culture started over 125 years ago and is very much still going strong today. Offered all over the country, BjP Physie is a sport you can do for life, whether for fun, strength or competition – there is a place for you.
Physie is an incredible and fun dance sport for kids, teens and adults of all ages. No matter how much experience you’ve had or whether you are a beginner, there is a class for you. Dancers learn the fundamentals of dance whilst also learning valuable dance skills, but also meeting new people and developing a love for the sport.
Our classes are designed to suit all levels, and are always affordable. No expensive costumes are required and you can start anytime.
We offer classes for girls and ladies of all ages. Whether you are an experienced dancer, or looking to start – we have a class for you.
Our classes combine fundamentals of Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical & some gymnastic elements into one class – giving our dancers access and exposure to multiple dance forms. We also work hard to encourage confidence, build strength & flexibility.
All of our dancers are encouraged to compete throughout the year, and although not compulsory, this is something that we strongly encourage.
In addition to our regular weekly classes, we also offer a range of private tuition dates, workshops and class intensives that are available to all of our students.

Get Started NowPhysie (Physical Culture) is a unique form of dance that combines elements of ballet, jazz, contemporary, strength training and performance. It focuses on building confidence, strength, flexibility, posture and stage presence in a supportive environment.
Physie is for all ages and abilities (Generally 3+). We offer classes for juniors, teens and adults, from complete beginners to experienced dancers. You don’t need any prior dance experience to start.
Physie can be as competitive or as relaxed as you want it to be. Some members love training for competitions, while others attend purely for fitness, confidence and enjoyment. Both paths are equally supported.

Our training programs are thoughtfully curated with influence from physiotherapists, gymnastics, ballet technique and sports science. We focus on safe, progressive strength, flexibility and technique development across all levels.
Not at all. You build flexibility and strength over time through training. Physie meets you where you’re at — progress happens naturally with consistency.
Comfortable activewear you can move in is perfect. Think leggings, shorts, singlets or fitted tees. Bare feet are usually worn unless otherwise advised. Leotards and dancewear also welcome.
